  These are pictures of the first day - sunny and warm - but then...  |
This is the report of the cameraman about the first days; for the genuinity, we tried to translate the text as it came in German.  don't care abuot the spelling - I'm sitting in the tent, a jacket over my head, so that I cn see the monitir. the first day from constable pynt to the esturay of the scoresbysund was very easy. It get more dificult on the 2nd day. the pakcice didn't allow us to cross the sound drirectly - and the snow got deepre caused by the strom some DAYS ago. next morning - snow flurry - sihgt=0, Michael was the firs t to go ahead - his compass was frozen - and then a polar bear ran directly to him - never seen somebody as fast on skies like him. the polar baer perhaps was only curious- ideal weaather for him to look for something eatable. Well, Michael was armed becuase we bargained with such situation. but the bear disappeaared. after the snow flurry we recognized where we were - our destination was more to the right - there are some cabins - bye, bye back ... if you have any corrections concerning the English, please mail it to me!  |
